January 29 to February 4, 2020 Days 274 to 280
Feel the build! This week was all about keeping the gains from the previous big week and keeping the fire ignited. This meant I had to stick to the plan and get the workouts in.
The long bike ride is starting to feel manageable, getting past three hours without much discomfort is promising.

I was compliant on all my workouts other than Friday when I was supposed to do a 10 km run and cut it in half. The roads are still very slippery around here the past week making me take to the gravel roads for my long run. I was fortunate enough to have a local runner Deon join me for the long windy gravel road run. No hockey this week due to the super bowl.
A week of good work in the books and feeling strong!
Summary of the week:
- Swim – 2.00 km – 0:48:49 hour
- Bike – 171.72 km – 5:36:46 hours
- Run – 46.01 km – 4:30:16 hours
- Weekly total – 219.73 km – 10:55:51 hours
- Streak total – 4705.76 km – 272:47:09
This weeks quote comes from Steven Moody, the coach I selected my Ironman plan from. Coach Steve and I exchanged some emails when I asked him if I could use his logo for a blog about selecting his plan (here is a link to the blog https://tangentx.ca/2020/01/31/i-selected-steven-moody-from-smart-endurance-solutions-for-my-online-coaching/). He said go for it but send me a link so I can read up on your other posts.
Coach Steve and I exchanged a long email exchange about the plan I was on and how maybe I should move to another plan. Like a stubborn athlete I provided hundreds of reasons why I was good where I was. His response made me really assess everything and ultimately I agreed with him: “Thanks for outlining your rationale/approach – and whilst I do not agree with it 100% e.g. why make a maiden IM journey more difficult than it should be.” Am I glad to have a coach like this on my side. Thank you coach Steve for getting through and helping me out.
Onto week 19 of my 48 week IRONMAN plan armed with a great coach, a solid plan and the feeling like I can handle the workload.
